Tim Jackson is a theatre creative who works as a Director, Choreographer and Musical Director in the UK and internationally. He has worked in the West End in all of these capacities, and his projects have taken him to theatres including Manchester Royal Exchange, Birmingham REP and Curve, Leicester. Outside of the UK he has worked in the USA, Japan and Dubai, and MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG, which he choreographed alongside director Maria Friedman, was released in cinemas worldwide.
He has a passion for new work and has helped develop over 20 new musicals, most recently working as director and dramaturg on two new British musicals, THE SEASON (for which the writers, Buchan Barne, won the Stage Debut Award) and TREASURE ISLAND.
Tim received a BA in Music, specialising in Orchestration, Film Music, Composition and Performance and then went on to train as an actor at Mountview Academy. Upon graduating he appeared in plays and musicals, including SUNSET BOULEVARD (Harold Pinter Theatre, West End) for which he and his castmates were nominated for an Olivier Award for Best Company.
MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG won two Olivier Awards including Best Musical Revival, and was nominated for a further three awards. The production received the most 5 star reviews in West End history and won Best Musical at the Critics Circle Awards. FLOYD COLLINS, which he musically directed, won the Off West End Award for Best Musical and was nominated for The Evening Standard Award in the same category. Tim choreographed and musically directed LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS at Manchester Royal Exchange which was nominated for Best Musical at the Manchester Theatre Awards and THE SECRET DIARY OF ADRIAN MOLE AGED 13¾, which Tim choreographed, was nominated for a UK Theatre Award. He was nominated for Best Choreographer for PARADE at The BroadwayWorld Awards.
